Canva vs Photoshop
Canva vs Photoshop, I am so happy to write about my two favorites platforms. They are both good tools if you master them.
As a graphic designer, I have found a complement while using both of them. This is new because I always used only the Adobe Creative Suites which included Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and many more. A very professional tool with a lot of options and limitless possibilities. To be honest I was skeptical to use Canva because it seems for me limiting.
I started to use Canva free version and now I am using the Pro Version and I have found so many benefits. Canva is so easy and friendly to use just drag and drop items and I have saved a lot of time for my social media marketing.
I don’t have a Social media manager for now in my business which means, I am doing myself all the marketing and promoting of all my services and products. The best way for me to be able to manage my time to be efficient and free my time to create beautiful designs for my clients is to build a quick system with good results for my business.
So I am using Photoshop for my business products in my online shop, my custom designs, and for all my professional requests. Photoshop requires some knowledge but you can find a lot of tutorials on the Adobe website and on Youtube.
Canva is my time saver for all my social media designs. I have uploaded my templates, and with Canva Pro you can add your branding colors and your brand logos. You have access to plenty of free templates and photos. The drag and drop are so quick and allows me to do my blog post cover, my Pinterest pins faster.
Which one do you need? I found out I need both but if you have to choose only one, it depends on your needs, if you need specific designs or creates your own graphics for your business, for e-commerce and you have the knowledge and not afraid to learn or explore all the possibilities of Photoshop, I will say Photoshop is much better.
But if you need quick designs for Social media, blog posts, pins cover for Pinterest, and you love something easy to use, drag and drop, and not complicated, with free templates for your designs, I will recommend Canva.
Canva has a free version, and I use the free version for about a year and it was fine, so it might be an option for you to try but the difference with the pro version is: you have limited access to templates, elements, fonts, and photos. Also, you cannot save in png (transparent background) or resize your design.
Another point to consider is Canva will export your design in RGB (colors) and it is not good for prints that require CMYK and the colors might be different. Canva export only 96 DPI which is good only for the internet and for Social media. Also what I love with the pro version is you can create folders and sort your designs.
In conclusion, I recommend using Photoshop for any professional graphic, print graphic, or if you want to sell digital products, otherwise, if you need graphics for social media, freebies, for your blog or website I will definitely recommend Canva. Try it for free and if you like it and need more features, upgrade your plan to the pro version or explore Photoshop.
